Three things to be thankful for...

I12-29-14
Walking in the snowy clearing with Amy during our yearly trip to Mt. Princeton.  Me wearing my flip flops.  She finds a silk lily left over from a wedding and asks why it's there in the snow.  She says she wants to get married there too.

The beauty of snow falling outside our house on the Monday after Christmas when no one has to go anywhere.

I'm thankful that my family is healthy and together today.

I'm grateful that I get to lead and support educators and students in a great school that has lots of room to grow.

I'm grateful that I have quiet moments to read and think.

I'm grateful that my son knows right from wrong and that he is trying to find his way in the world.

01-05-2015.
I'm thankful for my daughter Stella getting things done and being focused on her own success.

I'm thankful for Amy's braids and how wild her hair gets when she sleeps with them in.

I'm thankful to have a good job that allows me to make a difference in the lives of others and to take care of my family.

1-8-15
I'm thankful that I work with people who want to see our school be the best it can be.

I'm thankful that my kids made it home safe last night.

I'm thankful that my wife read to my daughter last night before bed.

1-28-15
Thankful that I get to learn and grow everyday.  Today I'll learn how to sit before a Board while teachers criticize my actions and a man's career is debated.

Thankful that my wife and girls are together everyday to support each other.

Thankful that my son and are trying to communicate better and that we can still say I love you after arguing.

Jerry

My mother's boyfriend has a snake.  He feeds it white rats that he breeds in his cement-vault of a basement. It's lined with plastic tarps.  The snake eats by hunting rats in the basement when Jerry lets one loose.  He thinks that's pretty cool.  The snake isn't ever locked in a cage.  It roams around the house on its own.  It only bugs me when I'm pulling out the couch bed when we stay over or when it slithers over me in the middle of the night.  Lucky it doesn't crawl up under the blankets.  My mom hates the snake, but she acts like she likes it.  I can tell that it drives her crazy every time she sees it, but she plasters on this fake smile and ask questions to cover up.

Jerry's weird.  He owns a garage and body shop.  Now that I'm a teenager, my mom thinks it would be a great idea for me to learn responsibility and be around other guys.  So, this afternoon, after school, I get to walk down the hill

Domesticated animals

Habits of control hide crazy on days when the last straw isn't.
Sold my soul for what I never had and who knew the steeped price?
Because the prize you buy is a sham, not worth the money you begged to pay.
And the man who called it out for you is bored and dead anyway, waiting to drink night into day again.
